“Hotel Services” is a professional continuing education program, the finishing of which results in the award of the Latvian 3rd level professional qualification “Hotel Services Specialist” (corresponds to the 4th level of the Latvian and European Qualifications Framework).

The hotel services specialist coordinates and carries out the sales process of main  and additional services, cooperates with the staff of other departments, promotes the achievement of the company’s goals, evaluates the demand and quality of hotel services, is responsible for the operational results and quality of services. A hotel services specialist is an employed or self-employed person, who can carry out individual business activities or work in tourism and hospitality companies under the guidance of industry specialists.

The program was developed by the academic staff of HOTEL SCHOOL. The program was licensed in 2013. The content of the program subjects was last updated in 2018.

Study process and internship
 

Acquisition of the program will take 1.5 years or 3 semesters, during which 960 contact hours are planned. The training includes lectures, seminars and workshops (such as mastering hotel management programs, culinary master classes, etc.) as well as internships in hotels. Field trips to various hospitality companies and guest lectures by industry professionals are also organized.

At the end of the first semester, the first qualification internship is planned, which takes place in Latvia’s (usually in the center of Riga) leading brand hotels – Kempinski, Radisson Blu, Park Inn, etc. In the second academic year, a paid second qualification internship is provided in foreign hotels and resorts. scholarship (accommodation and meals are covered by the employer). Learn more about internships and scholarships.
 
A qualification exam must be taken at the end of the program.

Tuition fees
 

The program fee is 2100 EUR per year for EU citizens and 3200 EUR per year for non-EU citizens. EU citizens can pay by semesters and months. Admission to the program is free of charge.

Program accreditation data

The educational program “Hotel Services” is accredited until 01.12.2020. (License No. P-16437, Accreditation document No. AP 6201). Graduates of the program receive a state-recognized educational document – a professional qualification certificate. Certificate example.

Career and progression opportunities for graduates of the program
 

The acquired education allows to work in national and international hotels and resorts, being in charge of providing services to guests, as well as to be the head of the department. According to the 2017 statistics on the graduates of the program, 80% of them are employed and 65% work in the acquired profession. Many receive a job offer while still doing internship. 25% of the graduates of the program continue their studies in Latvia or abroad.

By continuing studies at HOTEL SCHOOL, it is possible to acquire the first level higher professional education and the 4th level professional qualification “Hotel service organizer” in just 1.5 years!


Admission requirements

“The Education Law defines that further education is the continuation of previously acquired education and the improvement of professional skills in accordance with the requirements of a particular profession. Thus, the program is offered to secondary school graduates who want to get the required profession in the shortest possible time. In general, this program corresponds to the secondary level of vocational education.”
