Erasmus+ Learner Mobility in Denmark
Our HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College learners recently returned from an inspiring group mobility visit to HANSENBERG Tekniske Gymnasium in Kolding, Denmark, focused on exploring Sustainability in Danish Restaurants and Hotels.
Here is a look inside our intensive itinerary:
- The mobility kicked off with an immersive visit to the famous LEGO House in Billund, offering our students a firsthand look at iconic Danish creativity, interactive design, and innovative guest experience planning.
- The next day we were warmly welcomed to HANSENBERG with a comprehensive presentation and a guided tour of the school’s impressive facilities. Students then dove into theoretical introductions before rolling up their sleeves for practical culinary and service tasks in the kitchen and restaurant.
- The final day centered on a deep dive into sustainability theory within food service, followed by an enriching peer-to-peer exchange where Danish and Latvian students presented their respective vocational education systems, highlighting shared values and unique regional differences. The visit wrapped up on a sweet and festive note with a friendly Danish Layer Cake competition!
Throughout this mobility, our learners gained valuable insights into the renowned Scandinavian approach to eco-friendly hospitality operations:
- Sustainable Culinary Practices: Applying zero-waste principles, seasonal menu planning, and local ingredient sourcing directly in the kitchen.
- Operational Efficiency & Resource Management: Understanding how modern hospitality venues optimize energy, water, and food waste reduction to lessen their environmental footprint.
- Cross-Cultural Vocational Perspectives: Comparing educational pathways, technical skill-building, and industry standards between Latvia and Denmark, broadening their professional outlook as future hospitality managers.
- Teamwork & Creative Execution: Collaborating side-by-side with international peers in hands-on practical settings, capped off by applying precision and local pastry techniques during the cake challenge.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to HANSENBERG Tekniske Gymnasium and the entire staff and student body in Kolding for their exceptional hospitality, organization, and warm Danish welcome. Thank you for sharing your expertise, inspiring learners students, and creating a truly memorable collaborative learning environment!
