The basic principles of the College activity:

  • The legal basis of the College’s activity is the University Law, the Education Law, the Professional Education Law, the Scientific Activity Law, other regulatory acts of the Republic of Latvia and the College Regulations;
  • The College observes the principles of democracy, equality and openness in the operation and administration of the College;
  • The educational process in the College is organized in accordance with the principles of student-centered approach, academic honesty and internal quality management;
  • The College ensures the academic freedom of academic staff and students;
  • Among the College’s academic staff there are practitioners of the hospitality industry with considerable experience in hotel management positions;
  • At least 65 percent of the elected academic staff in the College have a higher education or professional qualification corresponding to the seventh level of the Latvian qualifications framework;
  • In the framework of studies, the College provides each student with an internship in high-level Latvian and foreign hotels, thus allowing them to gain international work experience in globally recognized hospitality brand companies;
  • In its activities, the College implements a non-discriminatory attitude towards all its students, employees and cooperation partners, and also strives to avoid conflict of interest situations;
  • The College aims to popularize the observance of the basic principles of sustainable tourism in the hospitality industry.

The strategic specialization of the College is hotel and restaurant service, tourism and leisure organization.

HOTEL SCHOOL mission

The general mission of the College is to promote the development of the tourism and hospitality industry at the local and international level, providing high-quality and international labor market competitive professional higher, vocational secondary and further education in the most sought-after professions of the industry and promoting lifelong learning for the professional development of employees in the industry, as well as promoting the creation and dissemination of innovations in the industry for a sustainable future.

At the individual level, the College’s mission is to help discover inner potential and create motivation for professional growth, leadership and careers in the tourism and hospitality industry, providing knowledge, skills and competences that meet the requirements of the modern labor market and the basic principles of sustainable tourism and business.

HOTEL SCHOOL vision

The College’s vision is to become a leading institution of vocational secondary, higher and further education with specialization in tourism and hospitality industry education and training in Latvia and one of the stable leaders at the regional and global level, which is manifested both in the active attraction of foreign students and academic staff, and in close cooperation with foreign employers, their professional associations and those foreign educational institutions that are internationally recognized education providers in the tourism and hospitality industry.


HOTEL SCHOOL development priorities

In order to ensure the long-term operation and competitiveness of HOTEL SCHOOL, as well as to promote the integration of HOTEL SCHOOL into the European Higher Education Area, the management of HOTEL SCHOOL has identified 7 priority development goals formulated in the Development Strategy for 2024-2029.

Those are:

  1. To improve the management and processes of the College, ensuring the achievement of the goals and needs of the interested parties.
  2. To develop the academic staff by promoting the improvement of the competences of the existing academic staff, as well as by attracting new talented teachers.
  3. To improve the material, technical and informational basis for the implementation of qualitative studies.
  4. To enhance the study and learning experience by improving student progress indicators.
  5. To increase the number of students and learners, paying special attention to attracting the most capable applicants.
  6. To promote applied research and its integration in the study process for the implementation of science-based studies in the College, as well as to contribute to the creation of knowledge about tourism and hospitality.
  7. Promote the internationalization of the College by ensuring productive cooperation with universities and research centers of a similar profile recognized in Europe and the world, as well as employers in the hospitality industry abroad.
