International cooperation projects

 

HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College actively participates and develops cooperation projects in order to  forge strong international partner network, to increase the capabilities and competitiveness of HOTEL SCHOOL faculty and staff to receive internal and external funding for research, creative expression, faculty and student enrichment, and educational program development.

 
 

From 13 to 15 February 2020, a representative of HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College has participated in 18th international special exhibition “Education and Career” in Minsk (Belarus) to present educational opportunities offered by HOTEL SCHOOL. Potential students, as well as foreign education consultants, have shown great interest in the proposed educational programmes and practice opportunities in Europe’s best hotels.

The HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College has signed the Agreement No. on 20 June 2016. Nr. SKV-L-2016/476 with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency on receiving aid under the “Promoting international competitiveness” measure co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

     
 

From 13 to 21 October 2019, a representative of HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College has participated in educational exhibitions in China (Beijing) to present educational opportunities offered by HOTEL SCHOOL. Potential students, as well as foreign education consultants, have shown great interest in the proposed educational programmes and practice opportunities in Europe’s best hotels.

International R&D Collaboration in the EU Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnership Project 2017-1-UK01-KA204-036716 on Adult Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC)

HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College have been participating as one of the six international project contributors over the period 2017 -2019 along with the partners from the UK, Portugal, the Netherlands, Romania and Italy: GLaSP, Brigada do Mar, SECMO, CFPDR, GreenRope. The project aims to promote education for sustainable development and global citizenship in adult education through capacity building in organisations providing adult learning by formulating competence frameworks for sustainable development and improving the competences of adult educators. The partners have produced the four Intellectual Outputs:

  1. A Competency Framework for Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC) for (a) Adults and (b) Adult Educators
  2. A Training Course in ESDGC for Adult Educators
  3. Teaching and Learning Resources including learning materials with embedded ESDGC
  4. Guidance for Adult Educators on delivering ESDGC
HOTEL SCHOOL hosted and delivered international training in ESDGC for adult educators in Riga in April 2019 to demonstrate how to apply the designed materials. Some practical workshops were delivered in the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia, Riga Zoo, Getliņi EKO, a modern, technological and environmentally friendly landfill of household waste that manufacture ecologically renewable energy and grow vegetables.

The training for adult learners has been delivered in Portugal, where the sessions and practical workshops were held close to nature in Galé Camping, Melides. The educators and trainees have experienced practical workshop of Beach Clean-up with Brigada do Mar, beach clean-up volunteering company. The training participants have visited das Barradas da Serra, a fine resort and an active farm of cork trees of about 800 hectares, Sines Thermoelectrical Power Station, dolphins observation, and Sado River Estuary ecosystem.

The project results were disseminated by Hotel School during the Dissemination Conferences in May 2018, May 2019. Also the partners have visited the dissemination conferences by other partners including Portugal by Brigada do Mar in July, 2019.

From 2 to 7 April 2019, the representative of the HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College has participated in educational exhibitions in India (Mumbai and Bangalore) and Vietnam (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh) to present the educational opportunities offered by HOTEL SCHOOL. Potential students as well as foreign education consultants showed great interest in the offered education programs and internships in Europe’s best hotels.

“HOTEL SCHOOL” Hotel Management College has entered into a contract no. SKV-L-2016/476 with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency for receiving support under the measure “Promotion of International Competitiveness” co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

  

Erasmus + KA1 project VET Mobilities in Hospitality Industry / Mobility Industry

June 1, 2016 HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College has launched the Erasmus + program core business KA1 project “VET Mobilities in Hospitality Industry / Mobility Industry” Nr. 2016-1-LV01-KA102-022476 implementation of vocational education sector.

Within the project period from 26.06.2016. until 23.09.2016 Students and students at HOTEL SCHOOL RIGA had the opportunity to gain international work experience, get acquainted with the specifics of work at resorts, work and live in a multicultural environment of high-level hotels in Spain.

In September 2016, however, college administration staff and lecturers went on a visit to the Atlantica Hotels and Resorts hotels in Greece for an exchange of experience. As a result of this mobility, cooperation was established in 2017 and 2018, which provides for students and learners of HOTEL SCHOOL to undergo training and qualification practice in the companies of this hotel network. Also, the work organization of the companies in question was understood, the perception of the specificity of hospitality services directly at Greek hotels, restaurants and resorts, with a special focus on internal business-oriented working procedures.

Through the project, HOTEL SCHOOL  has strengthened cooperation with the labor market, increased the competitiveness of graduates, increased the motivation of students and learners to learn and improve their knowledge.
Participation in international education exhibitions in Uzbekistan and Ukraine

In September and November 2016, representatives of HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College participated in the 15th International Exhibition of Education and Career in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and the International Education Exhibition in Ukraine.

Within three days, students and students were provided with information on career opportunities in hospitality, the opportunity to receive EU and British diplomas in Hotel Management in Latvia and to practice in the best hotels in Europe (Spain, Germany and Greece). Most prospective students were interested in news about the possibility to get education both in Latvia and in distance learning, as well as the most accessible study fee in Europe.

Contacts were established with new partners in Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
 
Nordplus – International mobility project for vocational education; Parnu, Estonia
 

HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College’s academic staff participated in exchange of experience Nordplus project and visited Kutsehariduskeskus Pärnumaa – Pärnu district Vocational Training Centre.

​Marketing activities seminars “Education in The World in 2015” in India
 
SIA “HOTEL SCHOOL” Hotel Management College has signed an agreement No. L-ATA-15-3799 on 14.12.2015. with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency for the project “”HOTEL SCHOOL” Hotel Management College in seminars in India (New Delhi, Agra, etc.)”, which is financed by the European Regional Development Fund. Seminars was held 28.10. – 02.11.2015. in the following cities-Ludhiana, Jalandhar Hoshiārpur, Raikes and Khanar.
Students  have finished their internships in the  leading hotels in Spain
​​During the period from May 2015 to the end  of October 2015 HOTEL SCHOOL RIGA students had the opportunity to have internships with Erasmus+ EU fund financial support  – Project No 2014-1 – LV01 – KA102 -000126: “Mobility -internationally recognized work experience and employment guarantee”. ​Students had internships at the resort hotels in Spain and were selected among the all college students on a competitive basis.
Italian cuisine masterclasses at the Chef Academy in Terni, Italy
From 6th January to 17th January 2015 HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College academic staff took part in the Erasmus + program project No. 2014-1-LV01-KA102-000126 “Mobility – an internationally recognized tool for work experience and employment guarantee”, during which the group visited the city of Terni, in order to practice at one of the leading chef schools in Italy. ​ ​Mobility managed to supplement teachers’ knowledge of both Italian cooking technology and the art of hospitality, as well as in other areas, as well as to establish contacts that will help in the future HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College development.
Norplus 2014 Project  “Using IT in Teaching Foreign Languages”

Nordpuls 2014 Project NPJR-2014/10224 “Using IT in Teaching Foreign Languages” brings together 4 educational institutions from Latvia, Denmark, Lithuania and Finland to share the experience of using IT in a learning process, conduct a study on the current situation, develop methodological materials together (hourly) plans and tests) to promote the use of IT in educational institutions.

The partnership is based on the need to improve pedagogical competence, motivate pupils to learn foreign languages ​​and learn more about each Nordic partner country. During the project it is planned to organize 4 study trips for foreign language and IT teachers for each project partner country.
X-Culture Symposium 2017, Miami

​“How do you call an event where different cultures come together for a one purpose? How do you call an event where young students are working together on a real-life business solution for a big company? How do you call an event where fun and laughter comes alongside with strategic planning and risk-taking? Yes, that’s right, it’s X-Culture. I was lucky enough to be among 150 best students from all over the world to attend X-Culture Symposium Miami 2017.  I can’t fully describe how excited I was when I’ve got this opportunity. Another good thing about it was that two of my classmates from university decided to experience this adventure too. My family fully supported me and I decided that this symposium can be the best graduation present. In June all participants were allocated to international teams from 4 to 7 people to work on one of three business challenges for Hard Rock International / Seminole Gaming. My team was given the HR challenge. We had to find a way how to attract millennials and generation Z to work for these companies. Some people found it an easy task, some didn’t. Some people, like me, started working on it one month before the symposium date, some were waiting until we actually arrived to Miami. In the end, all evenings after lectures were dedicated to our group work but it wasn’t a bad thing since we got a chance to know each other better.
