HOTEL SCHOOL concludes the project “Introductory course for citizens of third countries about life in Latvia”

On August 31, 2026, HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College successfully completed the implementation of the project “Introductory course for citizens of third countries about life in Latvia at HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College” (Project No. PMIF/13.3./2023/1/03). Launched in October 2023, the project offered free classes for third-country nationals regarding life in Latvia. Throughout the courses, lectures were organized on Latvian history, culture, public administration, healthcare, and education, alongside practical sessions such as museum excursions, visits to government institutions, and film evenings. The primary goal of these introductory courses was to improve participants’ civic, social, and cultural skills, as well as to promote their integration into Latvian society, their access to the labour market, and their pursuit of further education.

Throughout the duration of the project, 44 groups received training. In total, 537 participants registered for the program, while 433 people successfully completed the introductory course and received a certificate. According to the post-course survey results, 431 individuals indicated that participating in the introductory course was directly beneficial to their integration.

Jūlija Pasnaka, Director of HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College, stated: “Educating newcomers about Latvia’s social system, history, and culture is a crucial step for their successful integration. I am very pleased that over the past three years, we were able to support more than four hundred people on their path to integrating into Latvian society. We are also delighted with the overwhelmingly positive feedback — from the majority of participants, we received confirmation that the introductory course allowed them to gain new knowledge, better understand cultural and social processes, and transition more easily into the work environment. For our part, we hope the participants continue building their homes in Latvia, improving their Latvian language skills, participating in community life, and forging new friendships.”

Introductory courses were implemented within the project “Introductory course for citizens of third countries about life in Latvia at HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College”, project no. PMIF/13.3./2023/1/03, under the Action No. 13.3. “Measures for the integration of citizens of third countries, which promote the integration of the target group into society” of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, the programming period 2021-2027. The total funding of the project is EUR 257,870.00, of which EUR 193,402.50 is funding from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, and EUR 64,467.50 is funding from the state budget.
