Hosting the Methodological Workshop “Green Skills for Twin Transition: Embedding Esdgc in the Curricula and Teaching and Learning Processes”
From March 24 – 28, 2025, HOTEL SCHOOL Hotel Management College as a coordinator hosted a methodological workshop in the framework of the CB-VET Plus project “Horizontal VET Capacity Building for internationalisation and modernisation including innovation, digitalisation and sustainability by methodology transfer and exchange of good practices”, project No. 101129249. The topic of this specific workshop was “Green Skills for Twin Transition: Embedding Esdgc in the Curricula and Teaching and Learning Processes”. As usually, the workshop was attended by three project partners: Italian Hospitality School SRL (Italy), National University of Food Technologies (Ukraine) and Don Bosco Youth Educational Center (Ukraine).
During the five days of the workshop, an extensive list of lectures took place. For example, the HOTEL SCHOOL Development Director, Mg. paed., MIB Olga Zvereva presented several topics, as “Designing a Green Curriculum: Practical Steps for Educators”, “Design thinking for advancing green skills for twin transition”, “Carbon Footprint Calculation & Reduction Strategies in Hospitality & Food Service”, the Director of HOTEL SCHOOOL, Mg. edu. Julija Pasnaka, elaborated on the topic “Fostering democratic participation in educational institutions for promoting ESDGC”, the lecturer from Italian Hospitality School, Mg. arts Giulia Trojano presented the topic “Best practices and examples of embedding green skills in Italy”, the lecturer of HOTEL SCHOOL, Laura Zariņa, explored the topic “Diversity, inclusion, and ethical labour practices within the hospitality management and culinary arts study curricula and courses”, the lecturer from National University of Food Technologies Oksana Kharkovska presented the topic “Eco-hotels: their concept and benefits for the environment: implementing principles of green skills in the educational process.” The agenda included several field trips. For example, on March 26, the participants explored the ESDGC practices at the restaurant and hotel ”John” and sustainable practices at the AC Hotel by Marriott Riga.
