Units of the programme
 

BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Hospitality Management takes one year to complete. During the programme, you will take these units:

  2. Managing the Customer Experience
  3. Professional Identity and Practice
  4. The Hospitality Business Toolkit
  5. Leadership and Management for Service Industries
  6. Managing Food and Beverage Operations
  7. Managing Accommodation Services
  8. Work Experience

Study process and internship
 

It will take one year or two semesters to complete the whole programme. During the course 120 British credit points must be collected (equal to 60 ECTS).

When taking a unit, students receive a set of assignments, which are completed individually or in groups, in the end submitting various types of work – reports, presentations, photo or video reports on practical tasks, etc. These assignments shape each student’s individual portfolio, proving the expected learning outcomes. Assessment of the assignments is performed by both the unit assessor and an independent external verifier from the United Kingdom.

At the end of the programme students undertake internships in high-level Latvian or foreign hotels and resorts in Italy, Spain, Greece, Germany, etc. During internships abroad, students receive monthly allowance; lodging and boarding expenses are covered by the employer.

Tuition fees
 

The programme tuition fee is EUR 3,500 per year for EU citizens and EUR 5,000 per year for non-EU citizens. The EU citizens may also pay every semester or by month.

BTEC programmes charge a one-time registration fee of EUR 500 for registration in the Edexcel Online system in the UK. The registration fee must be paid after signing a contract agreement. Admission to the programme is free of charge.

Study programme accredited in the United Kingdom
 

BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Hospitality Management is the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework’s Level 5 Professional Qualification in Hospitality Management.

The programme was developed in the United Kingdom in 2017. It offers students an introduction to hotel service management and provides knowledge and skills to either enter the job market right away, or continue studies at a higher level, thus developing their leadership and management skills.

BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Hospitality Management, code 603/2279/2 (Ofqual Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) Qualification), is accredited in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland until 31.08.2026.

In Latvia, BTEC educational programmes are considered non-formal education, because upon completion of BTEC programmes, the UK state-recognized educational document is issued, not the Latvian one.


Admission requirements
 

To apply, a prospective student must be at least 18 years old and should have completed education at school or vocational education institution.

A language of study is English. Students who have not previously completed a course of education in English must demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum score of 5.5 on the IELTS or equivalent; or at B2 level in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
